The Benefits of Language- For Successful Relaxation or Business in OverSeas Countries

I have been looking at this for quite some time, and am more and more convinced that language learning is a great way to relaax.

Why do I say this?

Well, quite simply, the methods that are used to learn a new language also require us to use our brains, often in a way as when we were children.
This is one of the methods behind the Rosetta Stone Language Learning programme, which uses Dynamic Immersion Technology.

This technology is based on using your mind with visual and aural cues, as when you learnt your native language as a child.

The programme, and others are mentioned on my web page on language.

I am deeply passionate about this, as I genuinely know that exercising our minds keeps us agile mentally, and also learning a new language opens a whole new world for us on the international arena.

I again welcome you to the language page, with links to reviews, and comparisons of different language products.

Learning A Second Language or More?

The Importance of Language-Learning

Why should we learn a foreign language? After all, the whole world speaks English. Well, there's some truth in this argument, but only some. There are many reasons for learning a new language:

Personal Development

By learning a new language, you gain new horizons, but at the same time you reinforce your own identity, and therefore also your self-confidence. A foreign language can contribute to a stronger personality.

Cultural Reasons

It is a fundamental truth that cultures define themselves through languages. A foreign language gives you access to another culture. It gives you the ability to communicate and to exchange views with people all over the world that you would otherwise not have the chance to know.

Educational Reasons

Learning a foreign language opens up a whole new dimension. It has a positive effect on intellectual growth and it enriches and enhances mental development.
Learning a foreign language is especially effective at an early age. It greatly benefits reading and writing in one’s own language; there's evidence that, like musical education, it contributes significantly to the development of individual intelligence.

Economic Reasons

In a globalized world characterized by international links and intercultural connections, linguistic skills are crucial for employment and career. The knowledge of foreign languages increases job opportunities in many careers where knowing another language is a real asset.

As someone who has learnt more than one language, I feel I am able to suitably recommend the better programmes available.

I have learnt several languages, through numerous methods, including touring, and living in foreign countries, as well as the more traditional methods in school.

However, now that I am older, and working full time, I have had to look at other ways to learn new languages, and will explain those methods in more detail below.

Many of us spend more time in front of a computer, and this has motivated me to look at the CD ROM language learning packages available as well as the online language learning options.

I am very impressed with the programmes released by Rosetta Stone, as they are all very well presented, and utilise interactive methods to teach the languages.

They are all designed with native speaker’s voices, and the programmes are used by organisations like the USA military, and numerous multi national corporations.

I fully recommend the successful design, and ease of use of these programmes.

A wide variety of languages are covered as well.

Relax- with the New Kindle Reader

Yes- You can relax with the new Kindle Reader.

I hear some of you already asking- what is it?

The Kindle Reader is a new elctronic device, similar in concept to an iPod for music, but in this case, a device that holds many stored books, magazines or newspapers.

It is a fantastic device, as it is light, and works on the principles of mobile internet, where the material can be downloaded from any hot spot, connected to the net.

The titles are cheaper than the printed versions, and much lighter to carry around 100 books in!

At the moment, the device is only available in the United States, but would like to think in time, it will become available elswehere too.

For more information on the Kindle, click here.

The device is available from Amazon.

The Benefits of Learning a Language

Languages are the method of communication, and I'm an advocate of language learning.

I speak from experience when I say I am feeling much better in myself with my ability to communicate in more than one language.

However, having said that, and wanting to encourage others to learn, it's important to recognise that some courses are naturally better than others.

I have come across some links to language learning here or here.

I can wholly recommend some courses over others as you want to know that they are being offered in a professional way where you can actually learn something that you can use, and better still, know that you are imbued with the basics so you can continue to learn at your own pace.

I genuinely feel that learning a language opens many possibilities, and I encourage you to look at the links above to learn French, Arabic, Hebrew, German, and many others.

Ways to Help You Quit Smoking, and Relax at the Same Time!

Today’s blog is about the different ways we can occupy ourselves to assist us with our quit smoking efforts.

I am not going to expound the virtues of not smoking- I feel they are well documented already in the public domain.

We are all aware that it is beneficial for our health to stop smoking, and that we are able to taste better, breath better, an that our bodies heal themselves after 10 days of no contact with smoking.

I would like to reiterate that the desire to quit is something that can only be borne by the smoker.

Some people spend a large amount of time and energy telling their family, colleagues, and friends to stop smoking.

At the end of the day, this is something that can only be done by the smoker when he or she is truly ready to quit.

It can certainly be done, but the will power must be with the individual.

There are ways to help a smoker quit, and I’d like to briefly cover these areas in this entry today.

Naturally, there are quite a number of different nicotine patches available, as there are other methods.

I’m going to concentrate on the other, audio methods, and actions based on a positive relaxation angle.

T he first step is the desire to stop. You either want to, or you don’t!

Once you have decided that you do, there are a number of areas you can look at.

One of them is to use the ‘Think Right Now’ series of audios, which are remarkably affective, as they act to gently reprogramme your mind’s desire for smoking, or more accurately, programme you to simply not require it.

These audios are very affective, and are available here!

Another method is to simply involve yourself in a satisfying hobby.

An example could be a relaxing afternoon by a lake or other favourite fishing spot.

This is an example of an opportunity to occupy your mind with something totally different, as well as the beauty and serenity of a peaceful fishing experience.

In addition to the above, you could also seriously look at using and combining the time to meditate, and become even more relaxed.

These are just a few ideas which have been very helpful to a large number of people.

A meditation track is available here. It is free, and very effective!

Generally, any physical activity will help to rejuvenate your body, whilst flooding your systems with endorphins, which will have a double effect of ridding your body of toxins sooner, as well as providing a ‘great feeling’ sensation.

Work Successfully at Home and Relax More

Yes- it's true.

It is possible to work on many projects very successfully from home, and still earn a very nice income.

For some people, it may be as simple as earning a few extra hundred dollars a week or for others, maybe, many extra thousands per month.

At the end of the day, that is up to you.

I have come across an excellant concept where it is possible to start with a minimal investment of $7, and succeed with only a conputer, and your brain power.

Yes- it is true.

I mention all of this as I have found that people with higher incomes will tend to have less stress- particularly when they are earning from home, and not the stress of an office.

Some work Stress?

Just put in a stressful 60-hour week? Some people would say that's a good thing - and not just your slave-driver boss. In fact, while almost three-quarters of employees admit to being stressed at work, more than half think that this is by no means a problem. Not only is stress at work conductive to quality performance, they say - it even aids relaxation once you've clocked off for the day.
Considering the current emphasis on work-life balance, the results of research from financial recruiter Elements are surprising - particularly the finding that staff see putting in long hours and meeting tight deadlines as a sign they are doing well at work. So much for the ideal of the happy employee, managing their time and workload effectively. It appears that for many, to be a successful employee is to be stressed employee, battling against the clock.
But neurotic workers and unscrupulous employers aside, could there be something in the idea that stress can actually be good for work satisfaction, and even health? Perhaps. Research from the universities of Kentucky and British Columbia has showed that moderate amounts of stress can actually strengthen the immune system and be good for health. Short bursts of stress - of the type fuelled by a job interview, or an intimidating presentation - trigger a boost to the immune system (thought to relate to the primeval "fight or flight" response).
When primeval humans encountered such circumstances, the immune boost would have been useful to protect them against infection from whatever injury might have been sustained by the stressful encounter. And the natural heightening of immunity is still a useful health benefit.
But there is an obvious caveat to these findings. The Kentucky-British Columbia study emphasised the positive role of controlled bursts of stress, rather than of perpetual, unavoidable pressure. If strain on an individual becomes a long-term and inescapable aspect of a person's job, the effects become negative - including lowered immunity and an increased risk of illness.
Balancing your employment so that any stressful episodes remain just that - episodes - can be difficult. But according to Professor Graham Jones, author of Developing Mental Toughness, it is possible to train yourself to deal with stressful situations in beneficial rather than debilitating ways.
"Stress takes two forms: acute and chronic," he says. "The former is characterised by bouts of stress interspersed with periods of calm, whereas in the latter the bouts run into one another: you get home from work and are unable to switch off from the things that are frustrating you. You may even lie awake at night worrying.
"This form of stress is not good for you if it occurs over prolonged periods. Acute stress, on the other hand, is not all bad news. In fact, it can help you focus on priorities and mobilise the resources required to perform."
The problem of defining which kinds of stress are good for health and which are bad leads many experts to suggest aiming for as little anxiety as possible. Doctors, psychologists and trade unions are all quick to point out that stress can have disastrous effects on health - and while a little pressure might be acceptable, the physical consequences of overdoing it are fairly dire.
Overstimulation of the adrenal gland interferes with cortical levels, which can disrupt you waking and sleep patterns. Migraines, hypertension, lowered immunity and depression are just a few of the associated symptoms.
"Too often the stress we encounter becomes negative," says Tricia Woolfrey, a stress management trainer. "Approximately 12.8m working days were lost to stress, depression and anxiety in 2004-05 according to the Health and Safety Executive, costing about £3.7bn every year. A further study revealed that approximately 420,000 individuals in Britain believed they were experiencing work-related stress at a level that was making them ill."
But Prof Jones believes that whether stress is a negative or positive thing depends almost entirely on your own perceptions. "The crucial message about stress is that most of it is self-imposed," he says. "Everybody experiences stress to some degree - even top performers. The difference is, they have identified strategies to control these symptoms and harness their stress to help them perform better. The way you think about pressure determines whether or not you are stressed by it.
"The basic choice you have is between seeing pressure as positive in terms of providing an opportunity or negative in that it poses a threat, resulting in stress and anxiety. The realisation that you have a choice is the first step to controlling stress. The second is recognising the effect stress has on you - and learning to control these effects."
But while you might be able to manage your own stress levels, few of us work in isolation. "People tend to become exaggerated characters of themselves when under stress," explains Penny Moyles from business psychology consultancy OPP. "Extroverts become more chatty and introverts retreat more, so it's important to realise how that might come across to other people, and how you might be either helping or hindering them in dealing with their own stress."
For Moyles, understanding the various personality types that make up a team is key. Her research has also shown that a good support mechanism is invaluable in controlling stress. "As with much psychological research, it sounds like common sense," says Penny. "But a supportive working environment helps people work through their stress much more effectively."
So, if you're putting in all those extra hours and meeting tight deadlines for a boss who doesn't seem to understand the meaning of balance, don't soldier on regardless. A little stress can be beneficial - for your health and for your career - but working relentlessly against the clock can be mentally and physically destructive. And your wellbeing is certainly more important than your next promotion.

The Art of Zen- A Better Understanding

Zen is all about life, and the way we can live our lives daily.

This does not mean it's a religion, but rather a conscious thought about everything we do and encounter.

An example would be whilst we are out walking the dog.

We can concentrate on the beauty of the things we see, the smells in the air, the beauty of the gardens we pass by and so on.

I will be including more information about Zen in the Positive Relaxation Website in the next day or so.

Keep a lookout for it.

Zen concentration will enhance your sense of enjoyment in whatever it is you're doing. If it's something you love, such as stroking a cat, listening to music, or playing in the pool, well-being is enhanced. If it is something you hate - washing the car, cleaning, cooking - a feeling of joy and pride in your job is cultivated.

Your sense of life and enjoyment in both work and play will be magnified to astonishing degrees. The Zen principle of concentration is not only fabulous for enhancing enjoyment. It will do wonders for your physical health as well.

Apply Zen to every aspect of your life and reap multiple benefits.

Link Up to Boost Memory

There is a big difference between people following daily memorization routines compared to those who put their brain instagnant situations.
Minds require great attention and exercise
since these machines are the masters of how a person is able to
accomplish daily tasks. Putting your mind up for a challenge exposes it to active thinking. Memorization is one mental task that you need to do daily.
Help keep your mind working in good condition by regularly learning new information everyday.
Read books and memorize new names or dates in history.
You can even exercise your mind by simply using mnemonics during a few minutes of your day. Try the link method.
It is a mnemonic which lets you use your creative side yet allows you to retain new information by associating unfamiliar objects to familiar ones.

-scissors

-boat

-porch

-dog

The items above aren't related to one another but you can associate them together as one by using the link method. All you have to do is to imagine that you are chasing down the scissor all
the way to your stairs.
You went down the living room and found a boat tied to one of your stair steps.
You then hopped in the boat and allowed it to take you outside as you continue to chase the scissors but you lost sight of it.
You looked up the porch and saw your dog trying to show you something. The boat docked on
your porch.

You can try to expand your list with other items and begin linking them together and create a mini link story such as this one.

The Importance of Wellness

I would like to point out the obvious- it is very important to look after ourselves.

This can not be over emphasised, as our health is a very important part of ourselves- it is what helps to keep us vital, and alive.

Part of our health is based on our state of mind.

This can be seen by the material on this page.

Always exercise well, and breath well.

Info on breath is available from

The Importance Of Relaxation for Pregnant Women

Many women find that as their bodies change during pregnancy, they find the experience at times stressful.

This is not uncommon, and further, it has been found that women who are tense during pregnancy may find their babies are tense too.

One way to assist and remedy this situation is to consciously work at relaxation.

This can be done in a variety of ways, including listening to special soothing music, or any other classical CDs, as well as concentrating on breathing exercises.

Try this little exercise alone in a quiet space daily.
Lie on the floor using pillows and cushions for back support.

Begin by tightening the muscles in your feet for a few seconds and then relaxing them. Then work your way up your body repeating this with every muscle group, i.e. calves, thighs, buttocks, abdomen, chest, arms and shoulders, and finally your face.

You should find yourself utterly relaxed at the end of this exercise - or asleep!

More information on breathing exercise is available at positive relaxation.

Massage, and also pregnancy massage for pregnant women can be very healing and calming.

It is something that can take time, and a specific effort at first, but one that is always rewarded with a little practice.

It can be more beneficial to specifically relax, as part of a busy day, as this can help you be more productive over all!

The Importance of Relaxation for New Parents

Relaxation time is importnant for everybody... no question about that.

I see it very much as a requirement of moderation in everything, with a mix of balance.

However, as I am a developer of multiple websites, I feel it is important to include a specific group of people, as I am a webmaster and developer of a new parents website.

The idea behind new-mums-info is to help supply as much information, guidance and assistance to new parents about their new life changing event, with their new baby.

As most of you would no doubt appreciate, a new baby is a major change in a person's and family's life, and therefore, it is more important than ever to relax when time permits.

The idea is to be as supportive as posible, as well as well planned as humanly possible with a new family.

More information on relaxation for new prents is available at http://ww.new-mums-info.com

For more specific relaxation ideas on audio relaxation, see positive-relaxation.

All the best to you.

Breathing can Ease Your Day.

When you are anxious, your breathing can be quick and shallow, which reduces the amount of oxygen going to your organs. Learning how breathe efficiently can help reduce some of the physiological symptoms of anxiety.
To become aware of your breathing place one hand on your upper chest and one on your stomach. Take a breath and let your stomach swell forwards as you breathe in, and fall back gently as you breathe out.
Try to get a steady rhythm going, take the same depth of breath each time. Your hand on your chest should have little or no movement. Try and take the same depth of breath each time you breathe in.
When you feel comfortable with this technique, try to slow your breathing rate down by putting a short pause after you have exhaled and before you breathe in again.
Initially, it may feel as though you are not getting enough air in, but with regular practice this slower rate will soon start to feel comfortable.
It can help to imagine that you are blowing up a big balloon in your stomach when you breathe in, and then when you breathe out that balloon will deflate. This exercise helps you to breathe more oxygen into your stomach rather than restricting the amount of oxygen by breathing into your chest.
You can find out more about breathing exercises through learning Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi.

Sit Back, Relax and Memorise

Ever heard of repressed memories? How about being told by someoneyou know that he remembers something but just can't get it exactly? This is a common sign of memory decline and already a problem amongmillions and millions of people. You can do something to help yourself from having a memory issue bymaintaining proper mental exercises and a healthy lifestyle. Itmeans you need to maintain a healthy body overall. But you can start using simple memory improvement techniques likethe Link method. Memorization is rooted to how well you can createassociations of things that are unfamiliar to something you'reextremely familiar with.Car, Pillow, Contact Lens, ShampooThe items above aren't associated in any way with one another.Let's use the link method for these items. Start by imaginingyourself opening the trunk of the car and as you do, you find apillow with two brown looking eyes on it jumping up and downinside. Just as you try to grab the pillow, the two brown lookingeyes you've spotted earlier pop out, then lands on the garage floorand dives in a tub full of shampoo liquid.Imagine this scenario and the more you rewind it back in your mind, the easier it is for you to spot which items are important andneeded for memorization. What's great is that you didn't have toforce yourself to do anything. You just sat there and imagined.Well done!Click below to learn more about memorizing using Link method andother memory improvement techniques:

Simple actions reap Big Rewards!

Today I am writing about one of the mostpowerful yet simple 'pebbles of action'towards building your mountain of success.

This one action step will separate you fromthe crowd and empower you to develop anetwork of people, who have a high regardof respect for you.

The action is simplyusing a *Few words of Appreciation*.

The words....

'Thank You' are simple but at the sametime extremely powerful!

I wrote in a past issue that the differencebetween ordinary and EXTRAordinary is just alittle bit of EXTRA.

Well, as I meet peopleand do business, I always make an extra-effort to say 'Thank You' by way of e-mail, voicemailor send a card in the mail.

People always comment how much they appreciatedthe 'Thank You'.

In these days of such hecticschedules and people running all over the placeand trying to get ahead, sometimes we forget thesimplest things in life are the most powerful andrewarding.

You need to think to yourself about atime someone sent you a thank you and how muchit meant to you.

Always remember to...'Do unto others as you would have done unto you!'

After you finish an event make a note to yourselfto send a timely thank-you. Simple actions reapbig rewards!

I personally like to leave a voicemailmessage or send an e-mail message with the subject

Life is a journey and as you progress, the key is
to establish a reputation as one who appreciates others.

People will always feel comfortable tointroduce you to one of their contacts knowingyour past pattern has been one of professionalismand respect.

You need to realize that your most notableachievements in life will usually be the resultof someone introducing you to one of his or hercontacts.

Positive Self Talk

Positive Self Talk helps you tap into your inner strengths.

We all have inner strengths.

Positive Self Talk is about using your mind in the way you want to help yourself. It helps us to decide how we'll react to stress.

When we do the opposite (negative thinking) we create more stress for ourselves. Here are some ways to use Positive Self Talk.

Think about a positive statement you can tell yourself when you're feeling signs of stress (examples are "I feel relaxed and calm" or "I feel peaceful" or "no-one can annoy me").

Tell yourself positive statements every day (examples: "I am good at ….",

"I have inner strength",

"I have true beauty within",

"all is well", "I feel peaceful now").

Picture seeing yourself in a positive situation - one that you want to move towards (eg see yourself doing that school test and being relaxed about it and doing well, picture the teacher reading your test and being impressed on how well you did).

Remind yourself of things you've done well in the past (I did well on that school project last year, this means I can do it again).

Look at the big picture - will it really matter in 5 years? will the world stop turning if it does/doesn't happen?

Work on what you can control, accept the rest and let it go.

You can even make a tape of your own voice saying positive, relaxing, supportive things.

Go On A Journey As You Memorize

A healthy lifestyle is the good way to go in battling memorization issues. You may not know it but what you eat and the things that you do everyday affect the way you perform mental tasks, such as learning and memorizing.

Just as you do regular exercises for your body which allows good oxygen to flow to your brain; it's also good to observe good sleeping habits. Proper sleep (sleeping up to 8 hours) overnight is a good way to battle memory lapses later on. Also, it keeps you active on any memory-requiring activities that are going to go your way, allowing you to concentrate more.

As for a dose of your regular brain exercises, try the journey system. It's a form of Loci system. So pretend that you have a box of chocolates, computer mouse, shoes and an apple to memorize. You take them with you as you travel along the highway going to the office since you'll be taking the same route again going back home. This is important because it matters if you know an area very well or not. If not, then the journey system wouldn't be too useful.

So imagine yourself driving to work. First, picture a box of chocolates replacing all the large billboards you usually pass everyday, imagine them hanging there, big and wide similar to a movie screen. Next, you approach slow traffic just beneath the overpass. Picture the cars passing on it as computer mouse cars traveling really, really fast in lanes. After that, you try to beat the time so you won't go late and pass by your usual lunch place. Instead of a huge hamburger on the roof, you see a huge pair of shoes. And lastly, you reach the parking lot and greet the talking apple at the gate who is normally the polite old security guard. Silly, yet simple and effective.

So try to alter the normal things you see everyday to something extraordinary and unbelievable. Your memory cells will thank you for it.

Expand Your Imagination with Pegs

Expand Your Imagination with Pegs

Our brain is such an amazing part of our body since it does all ofthe verbal and mental tasks that we handle everyday. This meansthat most of what we see, hear, smell, say and feel is allregistered by our brain. Our brain is also responsible in how wethink and speak. You can't be completely on guard with all the things that comes inand out of your mind. Stress, for example is a great memory buster. It's when were stressed that we can't think straight at all. It'swhen were stressed that makes us think everything is just turningout bad and makes us feel even worse. Its when were stressed thatthe glucose in our brain decreases because cortisol destroysglucose. But even then, practicing a good memorization technique can stillhelp. Consider the Peg method, a way to improve your memorizationskill. Using the peg method can be very useful in memorizing a longlist. You can start with the numbers 0-9. So you have a way toremember each number, think of a word that rhymes with the number.

For example: one = nun; two = brew; three = tree etc

By thinking of any words that rhyme with the numbers, it helps inestablishing relation with what you need to memorize. Let's say youneed to memorize Acrophobia, Androphobia and Arsonphobia in aparticular order. Since they all sound alike, you can number themas 1, 2 and 3.

1 (nun) = Acrophobia = fear of heights
2 (brew) = Androphobia = fear of men
3 (tree) = Arsonphobia = fear of fire

First, think of a nun with Acrophobia trembling each time she goesup on the second floor. Next, a brewed coffee has Androphobiabecause it cools down each time a man orders it, and lastly a treeruns up the mountains whenever a fire approaches; proof that it hasArsonphobia.Try creating your very own peg words and even extend your list upto 20 or more. You'll find it easy to memorize items.

Relaxation Tips

In these times, many people live with chronic stress. The first step is recognizing that this is a problem that can have long lasting effects on your health. The single most important thing you can do is try to reduce the stressors in your life. It is unreasonable to expect to remove all stress, but evaluate your life - are you expecting too much of yourself? Are there circumstances or people in your life that cause stress and need to be dealt with? Once you have reduced your stress to a minimum, try using some of these suggestions and learn how to relax.
Regular excercise has been shown to reduce stress so get moving.
Schedule relaxing activities regularly, such as:

Go for a pizza and movie every Friday night.
Go for a walk through the park after lunch three times a week.
Schedule a massage or pedicure once a month.
Do whatever it is that you enjoy the first Saturday of every month.
Read a book or magazine that you enjoy.
Light a scented candle.
Indulge yourself - make a snack or meal that fulfills a craving.
Call and talk to a friend.
Take a bubble bath or a long hot shower.
Listen to music that you enjoy.
Have dinner at your favorite restaurant.
Invite a friend you haven't seen in awhile over for a movie.
Try meditation or yoga.
Ride your bicycle through the forest preserve.
Go on a picnic.

Goal Personal Planning Setting Success

One of the most important keys to success is a goal personal planning setting success process. A series of studies and interviews were carried out to find out the secrets of successful people. If we take a closer look at these studies, we will find out that majority of successful people use goal personal planning setting success as a first step to succeed. They know exactly what they want; they know precisely what they want to achieve, they know where they are going and what they are going to do. They have goals that have driven them to succeed in their chosen field.
The process of goal personal planning setting success helps us to determine where we want to go in life.
Start the process of goal personal planning and setting success with creating long term goals in each area of life and then work down to the short term goals, so you can start working on them today.

Goal Personal Planning Setting Success and Long Term Goals

To begin with goal personal planning and setting for success, you need to take your time and think about where you want to go in life, what you want to achieve. Do you want to lose a certain amount of weight? Do you want to enjoy a new car? Do you want to improve your relationship? Do you want to increase your salary?
Here is a first goal personal planning and setting for success exercise for you. Take a piece of a paper and write down what you want to have or achieve in the future on the left side of it. Do not stop until you get at least five â?? ten or more goals in your list.
Read your goals and ask yourself questions: Why do I need this? Why do I want this? Then write down your answers on the right side across each goal.
Leave your goals for now and then go back to them a day later. Now, rate your goals on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being best. Cross out all goals with the rate less than 10. The remaining goals are your real goals. You just created a â??big pictureâ?? of your life or long term goals.
Goal Personal Planning Setting Success â?? Short Term Goals
A short-term goal is something to be accomplished in a short period of time. If your goal is too large, it may seem that you are not making progress towards it. Short term goals are small steps that are easier to achieve. They will move you toward attaining your long term goals.
Now, you need to break long term goals down into the smaller and more manageable targets. Here is an example: a long term goal is to lose a large amount of weight while a goal of losing five pounds per month is a short term goal and more achievable.
State each of your goals as a positive statement. Be specific, use dates and amounts so that you can measure achievement. If you have several goals, give each a priority. Write them down where you can regularly read them to yourself. Setting and tracking goals is an important step in achieving success.
Once you set your goals, the first step in the process of goal personal planning setting success being taken.
If you have wanted to change your life, now is the time to start.
My best wishes for your success,

Susan Gray

A Story About the Important Things in Life!

One of my life mentors recently emailed the following story to me. I think you’ll find that it contains a lot of wisdom.
* * * * *
A professor stood before his Philosophy 101 class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to filling the jar with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open spaces between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They again agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students agreed with an unanimous yes!
The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and proceeded to pour the entire contents in to the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
“Now,” the professor said, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things — your faith, your family, your partner, your health, your children, your friends, your favorite passions — things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.”
“The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else — the small stuff! “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued, “there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your Happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. Play another 18 holes. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.
“Take care of the golf balls first — the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented.
The professor smiled. “I’m glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a couple of beers!”
* * * * *
There’s a great deal of wisdom in this little story. It’s so important to figure out what’s most important in life. Most people major in minors throughout their entire life. Don’t let that be you. Remind yourself often what’s really worthy of your time and focus.

What is Really Disturbing You?

This may seem an odd title- but it's a very powerful one.

What is distrurbing You?

I mean, what is really disturbing you? I'm talking about the nagging feelings you alway have in the back of your mind, and the things that are getting you down.

I'm referring to the things that you have been procrastinating for the last year to get done.

I am sure most of us have things like this on our minds. My intention is not to get you down, but rather to motivate you in a very powerful way- and to encourage you with all the vigour, and determination tpo be so moved, that you do something about the things and feelings that are disturbing you.

Can you see my point?

Sometimes, we only move with real force, strength, and determination when we have something that is really bothering us.

Another way of looking at this is if we imagine a dog with a nail in it's paw.

If it's like a splinter, and nothing serious, the dog may adjust its position, and then get comfortable again. No pressure on the splinter.

However, when it is really uncomfortable, the dog may bite, scratch, and realy do something to attract theattention of it's owner.

Here, I want to attract your attention, and encourage you to list all the issues that are Bothering you, that are getting to you, and that are nagging at you.

This is a way to live with passion- do something about it, and feel fired Up!

This way, when you get up in the morning, you'll have the energy to do, and more importantly, the motivation to do something about it.

I want you to feel so determined, that your whole day's outlook changes. You can then change your day, and make it a determined, and fulfiled day.

I'm serious. This really does work, when you are hurting so bad, by the desire to get the things you've procrastinated about done, for so long!

Be true, and have a great day!

Cheers

Get the Edge- Being the Best You Can Be!

Getting the Edge and succeeding like you never have before is entirely possible, and quite simply, a decision for you to make it happen.

That's right- it's about the difference in making or not making a decision, and even not making a decision is, in fact a decision not to look at improving your situation.

I don't mean to be 'in your face' about this, but I am very motivated to help you along on your quest to total success.

I had started Anthony Robbins' course , Get the Edge, in early August of 2007, and never looked back.

The course consists of audio CD's, as well as an introductory video, and a journal.
The course is presented in such an incredible way, to highlight the areas where we can improve, and it's presented with such enthusiasm, and dedication to your suucess, it is almost infectious.
I have only been doing the course for a week or so (since writing this web page, and already, the difference is shining through.

I can only too strongly, recommend this course as one of the better ones out there.
I realise there are many courses, and I wholy recommend this one.

I am not an affilitae of the Robbins corporation- but am unconditionally recommending this as I have been having an immense degree of success, and it's only the first Week!

I am deeply commited to your success, and will add to this page, as I progress.
I invote you to purchase your own copy at Guthy Renker in Australia

As always, to your ongoing success!

More information is available on the positive relaxation home get the edge page.

Personal Power

Personal Power is about to become a part of Positive Relaxation.

I have been researching a number of courses in personal develoment, and have commenced my study with the Anthony Robbins Course in Personal Power and Get the edge.

I am only on the 4th day, but already can tell you this course is well worth every cent (and it is very reasonably priced anyway).

Further more, This is not an affiliate page, but a straight out recommendation.

I will be expanding thisinformation into a full new web site page on this programme, as I am so impressed so far.

The programme starts off with a very clear presentation of the goals that are expectede out of the programme, and Anthony Robbins is able to 'electrify' the listener with his passion, which shines through totally, and completely.

More information will be available within around 48 hours on positive-relaxation on this subject.

Stay Tuned!

The Need for Our Continued Self Benefit Talk

Today, I want to add a note on the importance of our self talk, and the need for us to always self talk well.

What do I mean?

Well, we all have around 30,000 to 50,000 thoughts per day in our minds, and we need to guard ourselves- we need to make sure we are having the right thoughts.

I'm talking about the way we react, and think on a deep, inner level.

When we are kind to ourselves, we are able to be kinder to others in an outer way.

Let me explain,

If we start our day, bolt upright from bed, and immediatly start to tell ourselves, positive things like:

"Everyday, in everyway, I am getting stronger and stronger".

or " All I need is within me now", we are staring to self talk correctly.

Just these two statements, (and there are many more), can make all the difference, and help us to be better and feel stronger, almost instantly.

Others we can add include, "Day by day, I love my life with joy and harmony".

I think you can see the point of this self talk.

I realise that you may also think of other, necessary, but not as exciting things, like the power bill that you need to pay, and so on.

I have included a link here to take you to a page where you can learn more about the innertalk onceot, which focuses on positive self mind talk.

It's importnat not to let ourselves get down, often over unimoirtant things.

Live life with passion, and love.

Be the best you can be!

How Can We Work To Better Ourselves?

Today, I want to discuss another nagging issue on my mind regarding positive relaxation, and that is the requirement to always be working to better ourselves, and be working on our mindset.

I am constantly listening to personal development materials (like CD’s when I am in the car, or travelling by train, as an example), and always working to improve myself.

The next most important action is actually applying the concepts I learn.

I realise this is where many people tend to fail, and some are notorious, and regular purchasers of programmes, that then collect dust on their shelves.

I hope to suitably motivate you on this point, to really act with the tools that you have at your disposal, and would like to recommend a specific product at the same time.

That particular product is the 12 Pillars Audio Success System.

The presentation is superb, and has been prepared by two people who have really been through the wringer of life.

It’s one thing to listen to people who have never had a difficult day in their lives, and little life experience.

The authors of the 12 Pillar Programme have well and truly been through life’s difficult challenges, and have been able to very successfully explain, in a very moving way, their experiences, and convey the meaning, and urgency to act to their listeners as well.

They have also succeeded in life, and it’s always a benefit to learn from people who know, rather than people who have simply learnt something from theory.

That is why I am so passionate about recommending this programme- I feel and know it is a very positive move for anyone to take.

On many occasion people on one hand say they are positive, but end up effectively sabotaging themselves, as their mental thinking is not right.

An example of this might be people who think they are doing well , but if they don’t have a plan, they effectively are planning to fail.

I realise this may sound clichéd, but it is very true.

The programme is designed to help you see, mentally think, and act in the right way to get things done.

Specific principles are detailed, and explained in the programme, like:

Personal Development

Your Health and well being

Setting Goals

Building and maintaining strong relationships.

Finding people to help you on your success journey

Ways to influence people

Managing your time

Financial planning

Skills at communication

Leadership, and

Leaving a legacy.

You see, it’s all about also managing your life with all the ingredients.

Some people may tell you that you can succeed, but if they don’t help you with the other ingredients, like the how that is needed, in this example, then you’ll end up with less than the full cake (metaphorically speaking).

In addition, the programme details goal setting, which I also mention on my website at positive relaxation on the following page:

Relaxed Goal Setting

This page details setting goals that are bold, and significant, but still reasonably achievable in the time frame listed.

It is a fine line to be bold, and still put a reasonable, yet achievable time line on.

It’s also about your state of mind and belief, which is where much of this sits.

The programme is the result of the experiences and notes that were taken by the two authors, and again, the programme really does come highly recommended.

I totally urge you to look at this.

I am fully aware that for some people, the idea of doing this can be intimidating, but realise, you will fell intense power and achievement to use and learn, and apply the methods in this programme.

Anyone can do this, with a desire to succeed.

Do you have the desire?

Are you ready to put your foot out, and take the first step?

Have you got the vision to be bold?

I guarantee that if you do, you’ll be well on your way to astounding success, and great achievements in your life.

Sometimes, the hardest step to take is the first one.

I am sure you’ll do very well- just take the first step.

I am greatful I did.

The Importance of Seizing the Day- and treating Each Day with Urgency

As you well know, no matter wheather you are wealthy, poor, or somewhere in between, we all have the same amount of time in a day- 24 Hours.

I say this, as I am passionate about us all using each day to the best advantage, and trully living life.

Once each day has gone, it will never be repeated. Time passes, and we can look at ourselves at the end of the day and ask ourselves-

"Am I happy with everything I achieved today?"

"Did I use this day to the maximum that I could?"

'Have I given happiness to myself and others?"

and so on.

It really does make a difference how we look at things, and I feel it is particularly so, with the pace of the world speeding up around us?

An interesting fact is that the average 8 year old noadays, will have come accross as much information, as the average grand parent would have seen in their lives (from an information point of view- not an experience point of view).

I have created an ebook on living life to the maximum, and it is available from my website page on positive relaxation.com.

It really does make a difference, when we make themost of each day.

We only have one life- let's make the most of it.

To your health, happiness, and great days

Ways of Right Thinking

I have decided to include a new page onto my positive relaxation website, as it is an importamt topic, to consider the ways that we can apply 'right thinking'.

The page is located by clicking here for right thinking.

Right thinking is about applying the correct methods of self talk to the way we think, and the way we interact with ourselves mentally.

The reason for this is that we represent outwardly, the result of everything that we think, and feel, through the statements we are making to ourselves, in our minds daily.

A good way for us to feel more powerful, and fulfilled, almost instantly, is to carry a card around with us that has the following written on it:

What am I thankful for right now?
What is great about right now?

The ideas behind these statements are as follows:

There are people who do not have their limbs, people who are dying, people with brain damage, and so on and so on...
These are massive challenges, that can be over-come, but certainly much worse than most of us have to deal with.
Would you take any amount of money for your brain?
I don't think so.
If we can make a commitment to have a greater care over our state of mind, we can more readily implement a corrected thought of something we can be grateful for, instead of feeling a failure and so on.
There are also books that we can read, to help us remember these points.
An example is Napolean Hill's book on riches.
Even if you are a very positive person, it's a good idea to carry the card with the above statements, as this can help us in a time of need...
“Our lives are today”
“Live it now in full”.
Another example is that some people may complain they don't like their boss.
Try this for size- some people don't even have a boss to complain about because they're unemployed!
Food for thought...
There are Eleven Thought Processes that we can apply to help us be more successful in many ways.
They are:

• Having high standards and pride in our efforts and accomplishments.

• Knowing and Appreciating what we achieve from our successes

• Finding Lessons in Goal achieving successes

• Seeing Problems and delays as small

• Enjoying our Goal achieving Actions

Daily Meditations

I am a great believer in daily meditations.

I do so myself, with the use of the Holosync programme.

I have found that the technology, and develoment that is applied in the Holosync programme, I have been able to many times handle the degree of stress that I was formerly able to deal with!

How is this possible?

Simple...

The way the Holosync system works is to programme the mind to deal with more and more information input- almost to the point of overload.

However, the way that it is working is like the stretching of an elastic band.

Have you ever had an elsatic band, and after continually stretching it, found that after a while, it would not return to its original length.

The reason for this is that it has stretched, and been more able to handle the tretch without breaking.

This is the same principle (very cut down in explanation).

I can trully recommend the benefits of the Holosync programme.

I have written more about it on my web page at Positive-Relaxation.

The specific information on Holosync is available at the following Holosync Page.

Breathing Optimally

I felt it would be remiss of me not to include a section on breathing as part of this website, as breathing is fundamental to our lives, in more ways than one.
I have done extensive research on the subject (but do not claim to be an expert in this area).
After much reading, and searching, I have tried to include a basic summary on this page, as well as include useful links that I feel are very beneficial, in terms of the quality of the product, as well as the general information.

Breathing is an important part of the relaxation process, and can very easily be applied on a daily basis, with fantastic results.
Often, the simplest practices can make all the difference to our stress reduction, and with practice, the process can be done more and more easily.
You may prefer to breath with an audio instruction tape or CD, or prefer a silent environment- whichever is most comfortable for you.
Breathing also affects our muscle relaxation- more information below:
Background and Instruction Most of us breath very shallowly, and rapidly, so that we are able to receive enough air for our daily living, but this is not the correct way to breath for relaxation.
When breathing fully, using our diaphragms, we are able to inhale much more air, which then passes through our blood streams, and to our brain. Coupled with the following exercises, the effect is enhanced many times over.
Breath in fully, through the nose, and then hold for five seconds. Release slowly, through the mouth, and then, inhale again, through the nose, and hold for five seconds. Slowly, release through the mouth.
Some people prefer to close their eyes as well.
Do this for five to ten breaths, and then ‘feel’ your body relaxing more.
This exercise alone, has great capacity to relieve stress.

I will also explain more about the concepts in my own words below:

For many people, when we are relaxed, we are breathing ‘normally’. I say ‘normally’ in quotes, as many people, even at their relaxed rest, breath very shallowly, and not fully, thus not receiving the full benefit of the breath that they could be.
Naturally, then, when we are stressed, anxious, worried, or hurrying, and so on, this effect is made even worse, and can cause us more problems, as we will be receiving less oxygen and so on.
There are exercises that can be applied to help with this, and like most things, breathing fully is a skill that can be practiced, mastered, and then something that becomes Automatic.
Another way to help our bodies to absorb the maximum amount of oxygen is to reduce the intake of stimulants, like caffeine.
I realise that many people enjoy their coffee, but one way to help this is to perhaps switch from caffeinated coffee to decaffeinated.
Again, remember this is about doing small things, to make positive changes to benefit in the long term.
You may be surprised at the difference you will feel after a month or so. It is possible in the short term, that if you are a heavy coffee drinker, that you will feel ‘withdrawal’ symptoms after cutting down on full strength coffee, and cutting over to decaffeinated. However, the results will show as positive after a month or so.
This is just one other example on ways to improve your oxygen intake.
Another way to reduce our stress is to learn to slow our breathing down- on a regular basis. This way, once achieved, we are able to handle more stress at the same time too! (and better still, deal better with it, and not react as much)
The link below points to a website which has some fantastic materials and programmes to help you train, and exercise yourself for improved breathing.
I really do recommend the site- and the products come with excellent support as well.

Massage, and Ways for us to Learn to Help Others to Relax

Massage may be defined, in part, as the application of pressure, or vibration to different parts of the body’s soft tissues.

Massage is a skill that can be learned and practiced by most people- the main ingredients in my view, being a desire to learn, as well as to give healing and relaxation to another.

The benefits of massage amongst others are that it can relieve pain, relieve stress, and aid in better circulation.

I will briefly discuss different aspects to massage in this article, and give you an insight into massage.

Massage is an art form that has roots dating back many thousands of years, and has developed into many types today, with recent new development like chair massage, which, as the name suggests, is given to people most typically in an office environment.

This type of massage is given to a person, fully clothed, where some types of massage are given to a person either totally naked, or more commonly, partially covered in the areas where they are not being massaged, both for comfort, warmth, and modesty, not to mention relaxation.

Massage is designed to relieve the built up tensions and stress that can affect many of us from time to time.

Some people literally thrive on stress, where others do well with some, and a few do not handle stress at all.

In all cases, massage can be very healing for just about everyone.

Massage has also been used to help treat many ailments, including pain management, fatigue, muscular problems, and general tension.

It is natural to expect that the training of the massage therapist will make a great deal of difference to the final result on the person being massaged.

Stress is something that is important to help reduce, as over many years, the build up of stress can cause muscle problems, and our body’s no longer functions as well as they could. In some cases, memory and overall health are affected, and it is always beneficial to receive regular massage therapy.

As I mentioned earlier, massage is something that can be learned by mosr people who are willing and committed to helping others.

The benefits of being able to give a great massage are numerous, including the ability to reduce a person’s muscular pains, help a person to sleep better, increase a person’s sense of health and well being, and detoxify muscles, to name just a few points.

Massage courses are available by accredited associations and instructors around the world, as well as online from various reputable vendors.

I can certainly speak from experience when I say that massage is a great way to help one relax, and is an art form that can be learned, and developed.

To your ongoing success.

Be the best you can be!

Memory Improvement

Our memory is a valuable asset to many of us, as it can dramatically assist us in daily life as well as professionally.
Our memories can be greatly improved, by the use of regular exercises, as well as by considering various facts that affect our daily performance.
One of the methods that can greatly assist us to remember more easily is to learn to relax. I mention this as when we are relaxed, our minds literally do perform better, and the ‘data flows more easily’ in our brains.
It’s like if we try too hard, we sometimes fail, as we are over stressed about the outcome, and this actually blocks the desired result. I realize this all sounds blasé, but the results of numerous tests have proven this point to be true.
Have you ever noticed that when you are under stress, it is harder to remember facts quickly? You may seem to stumble with facts? This is, amongst other things, due to excessive cortisol in our brains, caused by stress.
Many people who are more actively relaxed, either naturally, or as they practice art forms like yoga, or exercise regularly (which produces endorphins), are generally more relaxed, and able to absorb great amounts of information at a time.
Another example of this concept are actors who remember many pages of lines from scripts.
Remember too, that the way you think affects the outcome. If you feel you are naturally forgetful, you will be. If you say to yourself that you don’t understand certain concepts, then you will find it difficult, if not impossible to do so.
Treating your mind as your friend, and something you care about is important. Remember too, that you are what you believe, and self talk is incredibly powerful.
It is important to truly think positively, as your core beliefs will influence your mind and it’s behaviours.
Further, correct breathing techniques are important too. It is important to breath in deeply, hold for a few seconds, and then expel all the air in your lungs through your nose.
This truly does make a difference if you do this a few times a day. By correct breathing being practiced daily, more toxins are eliminated from the body, and more oxygen is delivered to the brain! More information is provided about this on my web page,
on breathing and visualization. Click here for access to this page.

It is important to also visualize ourselves as being able to remember more. If you are sceptical, try it for a week or two, and you will notice the difference.
Very importantly, also give yourself the time to learn, and memorize things. By not rushing, the stress is removed, so you are able to relax more, and enjoy the experience. When we are relaxed, we again, can enjoy the experience, and feel it with emotion.
I say this as if we make a scene ridiculous, like memorizing a script, and thing of strange things happening to us at the same time, we apply an emotion, that in turn, becomes more ‘memorable’ to us.
We will remember more if we are passionate and emotional about a subject.
Another important ingredient in practiced memory is to repeat things over several times. I’m not suggesting a casual repetition, but a deliberate repetition, and writing down of facts, and then coming back to it the next day, and the next. If the topic is large enough, I guarantee that after a week of this, you will not only know your material for the short term, but also the long term- the very long term.
Many people, who do not practice good memory techniques, which can be learned with relative ease, but a little determination, effort, and practice, will forget 90% of what they have learned in a day or two.
However, with practice of the above techniques, the retention rate can be 75% or more!
This technique, of revising a concept or facts over a number of days, rather than just over a half hour period, as an example, is known as retroactivity- a concept that greatly enhances our ability to remember for the long term. We will remember more if we practice or revise over a few days, rather than over a half hour only for one day.
Another method to enhance these concepts is to use association, by appending strange pictures to different concepts that causes us to remember more.
At the end of the day, anything that helps us to remember more has got to be a benefit.
Try the above, you will be guaranteed to remember more.
I have also done some extra research in this area, and looked for products that I feel have been beneficial to aid the learbing of these principles.
One such product is available, as a book, and software module.
The product is excellent, in that it is reasonably priced, as well as being very effective.

Remember What You Can In Quick and Easy Steps

You might have heard of Mnemonics and how they can help you improve your memory.
Mnemonics aren't difficult or tiresome activities; in fact, it's as if there's no pressure when doing the actual memorization because of how simple and pleasant the steps can be. An example of a mnemonic method is the Loci System.
A good scenario when the loci system can be effectively used is when a person has several items or a list needed for immediate remembering. The first important thing to remember when using the loci method is the familiarization of a place and the correct order of locations of the chosen place. It could be the dining room, bedroom or kitchen at home or a favorite route in the park. It doesn't matter where, as long as the location can be easily recalled accurately by the doer.
Let's say, the specific locations are the parking lot, pond, willow tree and the benches in the park. So, let's pretend the items are umbrella, dog food, cell phone and picnic basket. To associate the items, visualize strongly hundreds of open umbrellas falling down on the parking lot as you find a space where you could park. Next, as you pass by the pond, you pick up the usual dog food to feed the fish followed by the big willow tree bearing cell phones for fruits and lastly, as you sat by the benches, a picnic basket approaches and sells you what is inside it. Each time you visit the park or any other place you're strongly familiar with; you can immediately associate the specific locations with any items you need to remember.
When using this method, it's better to imagine objects in familiar places in bizarre or amusing ways because it helps a lot in retaining information.
Click below to learn more about the Loci System and other memory improvement techniques:

As an extra to the above information, I have found that one effective and interesting way of familiarization and memorization of objects at a particular time or event is to associate them with a journey. The place or location where the journey happens can be stationary but not you, the traveler. You should come across the entire set of objects which are available on the setting you have chosen.

We can set the movie house as an example for this memory improvement approach. Before you enter the movie house lobby, you purchase tickets for you and your friend. You know it’s the ticket booth because you see people falling in line to buy their own tickets. Now, associate the elements you see with what you need to remember. Let’s pretend that you need to buy grocery items after seeing a movie. Seeing the long line of moviegoers to the ticket booth is a start. You can make the line of moviegoers going to the ticket booth, purchase chunks of meat instead of tickets. After getting your own meat chunk from the ticket booth, you then proceed to the lobby where you can buy popcorn and drinks served by two food counter clerks. The first clerk is named Ms. Tomato while the other one is named Mr. Lettuce. One has a head like a tomato and the others head looks like lettuce. After ordering, you are then served by Ms. Tomato a bucket of cheese bars instead of pop corn and butter for drinks.
I realize this may seem odd, but believe me, these techniques work.
To your continued success- be the best you can be!
I have included the link again here to the product line for memory improvement.
